The closest airport to San Gabriel and the simplest curb to work with. If your flight exists out of Burbank, it's the shorter drive and the lower rate.

Straight east. Same drive time as LAX, but a far smaller airport at the other end — shorter security lines and a terminal you can walk end to end.
What Time Should You Leave?
The drive is only half of it. This is the first thing I ask a new client — domestic or international — and this is the answer I give, so you arrive with time to check bags and clear security without rushing.
Domestic flights
Leave 2.5 to 3 hours ahead
That puts you at the terminal with two to two and a half hours in hand — enough to check bags, get through security and reach your gate at a walk rather than a run.
International flights
Leave 4 hours ahead
Which gives you three hours at LAX. International check-in desks close earlier than most people expect, and Tom Bradley at peak is not a terminal to arrive at tight.
Where You Start in San Gabriel Matters Too
The city isn't big, but the ten minutes between one end of it and the other is the difference between comfortable and rushed at 4am.
On or near Valley Boulevard
The Sheraton and the Hilton both sit on Valley, which puts you minutes from the 10. There's a FasTrak entrance off Del Mar that gets us moving straight away — and because tolls are already inside your flat rate, I'll use the express lanes whenever they're worth using and it costs you nothing extra.
Closer to Las Tunas Drive
Further from the freeway, so add about ten minutes to everything above. It's not a long detour, but it's the kind of thing worth knowing before you set an alarm rather than after.

Where I Take People in San Gabriel
A lot of my hourly work is family visiting from overseas — someone's parents in for a fortnight, wanting to see the city without a relative giving up their whole week to drive. These are the stops that come up most.
Worth knowing before you book: the Mission, the Playhouse and Blossom Market Hall all sit on South Mission Drive within a few hundred yards of each other. One drop-off covers all three, which is usually where a half-day starts.
Founded in 1771, and reopened in 2023 after the fire — restored church, a museum curated with the Gabrieleño-Tongva Tribe, and a garden with a traditional kiiy. It's the reason the city exists, and it's the stop visiting parents ask for first. I drop at the Mission Drive entrance and wait close by rather than leaving you to find me afterwards.
Spanish Colonial Revival, and still a working theatre with concerts and performances through the year. Evenings here are the classic case for a driver — dropped at the door, collected at the same spot when it finishes. No circling for parking beforehand, and no standing in the crowd afterwards waiting on a rideshare that's surging.
Thirteen food stalls in a 1949 Masonic lodge, two blocks from the Mission. It's the easiest stop to pair with anything else in the historic district — everyone finds something, nobody has to agree on one restaurant, and it works just as well for a quick lunch mid-itinerary as for an evening out.
Most visiting families I drive are staying at one of these two. I do the airport runs at both ends of the trip and the hourly days in between, and I know both entrances well enough to pull straight in rather than ringing you from somewhere in the car park.
People drive in from across Los Angeles to eat here, and Newport Seafood on Las Tunas is the one out-of-town guests have usually already heard about. Banquets, birthdays, big family dinners along Valley Boulevard. Book a driver and nobody at the table has to be the one staying sober, and nobody circles for twenty minutes looking for a space.
The course has been here since 1904. It's a private club, so this is a ride for members and the people they're hosting. How it works is up to you — dropped off and collected when you call, or booked hourly so the car simply stays for the round and the lunch afterwards. Vincent Lugo Park at Wells and Ramona is worth a stop if there are grandchildren along — the concrete sea creatures at La Laguna are a San Gabriel institution. And if you're heading further out, the Huntington in San Marino and Santa Anita Park in Arcadia are both short hops that come up constantly on hourly days. How much is a car service from San Gabriel to LAX?
$100 one way, or $200 for a round trip. Burbank is $75 one way and $150 round trip, and Ontario is $100 and $200.

Do you pick up from the Sheraton and Hilton on Valley Boulevard?
Regularly — they're two of my most common pickup addresses in San Gabriel. Both sit close to the 10, which makes airport runs from either one straightforward.
For visiting families I usually handle the whole trip: the arrival pickup from LAX, hourly days while they're here, and the return run at the end. Booking it together means the departure pickup is already confirmed rather than arranged in a hurry the night before.
Can you drive visiting family around San Gabriel for the day?
That's what hourly service is for — $75 an hour with a three-hour minimum. I stay with you, the car waits between stops, and you don't need to know the full plan in advance.

Do you speak Mandarin?
Yes. My family speaks it, so it's a first language rather than something I studied.

Do you provide car seats?
I don't provide them, but you're welcome to bring and fit your own, and I allow extra time at pickup so nobody's rushing to install it.
I also store car seats free of charge while you're away — leave it with me on the way to the airport and it's back in the car, fitted, when I collect you on your return.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
No deposit and no prepayment. You pay at the end of the ride, once you've actually been driven.
There's also no cancellation fee. Plans change and flights move, and charging people for that isn't how I want to run this.
